Start with the drive from home, then look at the route from the dock to the water you enjoy most. Channel crossings, bridge clearance, water depth and the size of the slip matter as much as the marina's address. Ask about parking, shore power, lift options, fuel, pump-out service and winter storage as they apply to your boat.

Compare the full seasonal arrangement: what is included, what costs extra and how launching or retrieving a boat works. For dry stack, ask about advance launch requests. Availability, rates and operating hours should be confirmed with the operator.

Living near the lake
